Privacy policy
How we use your information. Updated October 29, 2026.
Who operates this service
AULACCESS LLC operates Retire Handbook at retirehandbook.com. We provide retirement-income education and may receive payment for introductions to independent licensed insurance professionals. Contact us at hello@retirehandbook.com or by mail at AULACCESS LLC, 1797 Trevino Circle, Bolingbrook, IL 60490.
Information you provide
You can read the public guide without supplying contact details. When you save a quiz report, we collect your first and last name and email, whether you are retired, marital status, age range, main concern, priority, savings range, and state. The email step asks for your first name, last name and email; if you book a call, the scheduling page asks for your name. We save those details when you submit the email step, even if you stop before the phone step.
If your answers qualify for a review, the last step of the quiz asks for your phone number. By tapping the button on that step, you agree that Retire Handbook may call and text that number about your report and review, using the wording shown next to the button. There is no separate texting checkbox for this step. We collect the number, each choice, the exact wording and version shown, and the time. Readers routed to the guide also provide a phone number to finish the quiz. Where offered, their Retire Handbook SMS choice remains optional and does not request calls or an introduction. Where the guide screen offers partner sharing, you may agree to share your details by tapping the guide button beside an agreement that names the company, or by checking a separate optional partner box. We share only with the company or companies you agreed to on our partners page, for contact as that agreement states. The Guide only link opens the guide without granting partner-sharing permission. If your answers qualify for a review, we also email you a few short follow-ups about your report and how a review works, then an occasional educational retirement email. Each one has an unsubscribe link. Readers routed to the guide are not added to these follow-ups.
There is no separate opt-in checkbox for Retire Handbook Weekly, our weekly educational retirement email, which also includes information about our introduction service. When short follow-ups end, such as when our calls or follow-up emails end without a booked review, we may add your email address. We use Kit to send it, providing only your email address, not quiz answers or savings information. Every email includes an unsubscribe link and our mailing address. Unsubscribing from it or any of our emails, or asking us to stop, stops the weekly email. Receiving it does not request phone calls, texts or an introduction, and does not authorize sharing your details with a professional.
Our calls are recorded and transcribed, and we say at the start of every call that you are on a recorded line. If you'd rather not be recorded, tell us and we'll stop right away. As the wording next to the quiz button says, we may share the recording and a written summary with the one licensed professional you approve. We send it through a private link that stops working 30 days after the meeting, or through their firm's email or approved system if their firm requires it. If you ask us not to share the recording, we share only typed notes. For people who finished the quiz before October 7, 2026, we share only typed notes. A professional who wants to record or use a notetaker during your meeting must ask everyone on the call first.
Visit information and browser storage
We collect basic information about the visit, including IP address, browser type, referring page, landing URL, advertising link parameters, and click identifiers. We use session storage to keep the quiz answers, report link, and attribution within your browser session, and a first-party cookie that lasts one day to keep a random visit number, so the page after the application can find your answers. Server records can remain after that session ends.
When advertising measurement is turned on, the site loads the Meta pixel. It sets cookies and reports events such as viewing a page, starting the quiz, finishing it, clicking to schedule a review, and booking one. Those events do not include your name, email, phone number, state, or report link. When you finish the quiz, the events also tell Meta whether your answers qualified for a review, which reflects whether you reported $250,000 or more in retirement savings. Our server also sends Meta a copy of the page view, qualified email, phone step and booking events, only when the pixel is on in your browser. The copies of the email, phone step and booking events also carry your email address, phone number and our record number for you in scrambled (hashed) form, which Meta uses to match the event to a Meta account. Later, when our team confirms your meeting with you by phone, and when you attend a meeting with a professional, our server tells Meta that the step happened, with the same scrambled email, phone number and record number, and the IP address, browser details and pixel cookie from your quiz visit. It does this only if the pixel was on in your browser when you finished the quiz. To stop these later events, email hello@retirehandbook.com with the subject "Do not sell or share." None of these events carry your name, state, quiz answers, savings, meeting details, or report link. Meta's own policy governs what Meta does with that data, and you can adjust ad preferences in your Meta account settings. The site still works with cookies blocked. Links to other websites take you to services governed by their own policies.
When site analytics is turned on, the site uses PostHog to measure how visitors use its pages. It records page views, clicks, scrolling, which quiz step a visitor reached, whether a form field was tapped or filled in, and session replays that show how a visit moved through a page. Replays show the pages as you saw them, including quiz answers and what you type into the forms, such as your name, email, phone number and any confirmation code, so we can find and fix problems with the site. Each visit is also labeled with the savings range and state you picked and whether your answers lead to the report or the guide. Apart from replays, we do not send PostHog your name, email, phone number, or report link. Once you give your email, and on your report and meeting confirmation pages, the visit is labeled with a short code made from our record number for your request, so we can see which pages and videos you viewed and for how long; the code does not contain your name, email, or phone number. Links we send you to our answer pages (retirehandbook.com/library) carry your record number, so we can see which answers you opened. On your report and meeting confirmation pages it counts visits, taps, and how much of each video plays, labeled with the ad that brought you and the ranges you picked, without the link or the page title, and session replays of these pages show what you saw there. PostHog stores this data for us in the United States and uses a cookie and browser storage to recognize a returning browser. Analytics does not load when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal.
The video on our main page is hosted by VTurb. It starts playing silently when the page opens and measures viewing, such as whether the video plays, when the sound is turned on and how much of it plays, along with the page address, the browser, approximate location and the ad that brought you, and it may use browser storage to remember where you stopped and how you arrived. When you finish the application or book a time, our server tells VTurb that the step happened for that video visit, using VTurb's own code for the visit; it does not include your name, email, phone number, answers, or IP address. We do not send VTurb your name, email, phone number, or answers.
Other videos, including those on our report and confirmation pages, are hosted by Wistia. When you play one, Wistia measures viewing, such as when a video starts, how much of it plays, and the browser and approximate location, and may use browser storage to recognize a returning viewer. We do not send Wistia your name, email, phone number, or answers. When your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, the videos load with Wistia's viewer tracking turned off.
Our application form is hosted by Typeform, which receives your answers, including your name, email and mobile number, and passes them to us. Meeting times are booked through Calendly, which receives your name and email.
Why we use information
- To save and display your report.
- To contact you about your requested guide or review within the call or text permissions you agreed to on the last step of the quiz.
- To arrange an introduction if you choose one after we identify the professional.
- To share your details with a company on our partners page, only if you tapped the guide button beside its named-company agreement or checked the optional partner box.
- To understand which links bring visitors to the site and how visitors use its pages, using our own submission records and site analytics.
- To operate and secure the service and document permissions and opt-outs.
Who can receive information
Our team and providers supporting hosting, data storage, security, advertising measurement, and internal notifications process the information needed for those tasks. When you complete the qualified review phone step, the internal notification includes your contact details and relevant answers for our team.
When a review fits, our team confirms your details and identifies the professional and firm before sharing your answers and contact details with that one professional for the review. The professional is not employed by Retire Handbook. The calendar may show the professional’s name, but we share your details with that professional only after our team confirms the introduction with you. After you approve the introduction, the licensed professional meets you at the scheduled meeting. They do not call or text you outside that meeting unless you ask them to. Your Retire Handbook SMS consent does not authorize that professional to text you; the professional must obtain their own SMS consent separately. We do not pass your SMS opt-in record or consent to the professional.
If you tap the guide button beside a named-company agreement or check the optional partner box on the guide screen, we share your name, email, phone number, state and quiz answers only with the company or companies named in that agreement and listed on our partners page when you agreed. These companies may pay us for this information and may contact you as the agreement states, under their own privacy policies. We do not share your details with partners unless you agree through that button or box. We record the exact agreement shown, your number, your choice and the time.
Paid introductions, partner sharing and other disclosures may be treated as a sale or sharing under an applicable privacy law. The rights available to you depend on the law and its applicability to the business and disclosure. We may also disclose information when legally required or needed to protect the service or its users.
Calls and text messages
If your answers qualify for a review, tapping the button on the final quiz step agrees to calls and to Retire Handbook service texts about your requested report and annuity review, using the wording shown next to the button. That wording allows calls and texts using an automated dialing system. These texts include a link to your report, sent to the number you typed, and may include appointment scheduling, reminders and follow-ups. We only call and text you during the hours the law allows where you live, and only as often as it allows. Each text names Retire Handbook and includes our mailing address. Readers routed to the guide may instead check a separate, optional box for texts about their requested retirement guide. That guide-only choice does not request calls or an introduction. These texts may be automated. Neither consent authorizes promotional texts. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP or OPT OUT to end. Text HELP for help, or email hello@retirehandbook.com. SMS consent is not a condition of any purchase, and guide texts are not required to get your guide. See our SMS terms.
Mobile information is not shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes, except with the partners you agree to on the guide screen, by tapping the guide button beside its named-company agreement or checking the optional partner box. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from all information-sharing categories described in this policy. We do not sell, rent or share SMS opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates, including introduced professionals. The only exception is vendors, aggregators and messaging providers that process this information solely to deliver and support messages on our behalf, not for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
If you request a one-time verification code, we use your number to send that code by the text or call option you choose. This request does not subscribe you to service or promotional texts.
You can withdraw consent at any time. Reply STOP to a Retire Handbook text, tell the caller you no longer wish to be contacted, or email hello@retirehandbook.com. If we have made an introduction, tell us whether your request also concerns that professional so we can pass it along. You can also contact the professional directly.
Your privacy choices
You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
- Advertising and analytics on this browser: use the button below. The Meta pixel and site analytics stop loading in this browser, and our server stops sending Meta its copy of your events. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser does the same thing automatically.
- Introductions and partner sharing: we share your details with a professional only after you approve the introduction, and with partners only if you agree on the guide screen (tapping the guide button beside its named-company agreement or checking the optional partner box). To withdraw either choice, or to opt out of any sale or sharing of details we already hold, email hello@retirehandbook.com with the subject "Do not sell or share."
Privacy requests
Email hello@retirehandbook.com to request access, correction, deletion, or an opt-out of sale or sharing. Where applicable, you may also request portability, use an authorized agent, or appeal a decision by replying to our response. We may need to verify your identity and will handle requests under applicable law without discrimination.
How long we keep information
- Quiz answers, contact details and your report: up to 2 years after our last contact with you, then deleted.
- Call and text permissions, the wording you agreed to, introduction and partner-sharing records, and opt-out requests: up to 5 years after our last contact with you, so we can show what you agreed to and when. We may keep a minimal record of your phone number or email longer, only to honor an opt-out.
- Call recordings and transcripts: up to 2 years after the call.
- Site analytics: up to 1 year in PostHog. Meta keeps pixel data, and VTurb and Wistia keep video viewing data, under their own policies.
- Backups: deleted records can remain in encrypted backups until those backups expire.
We may keep information longer when the law requires it or to resolve a dispute.
California residents
This section adds detail for California residents. In the past 12 months we collected these categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: name, email, phone number, IP address, and cookie or click identifiers.
- Personal characteristics: age range and marital status.
- Financial information: savings range, retirement timing, and whether a retirement account could be moved.
- General location: your state. We do not collect precise location.
- Internet activity: pages viewed, clicks, and quiz steps reached.
- Inferences: the retirement topics and annuity type your report covers, based on your answers.
We collect this information from you, from your browser, and from the advertising links you click. We use it for the purposes listed above and keep it for the periods listed above. We do not collect sensitive personal information as California law defines it, such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or precise location.
We disclose these categories to service providers that host, store, secure and deliver our service, for those tasks only. When you approve an introduction, we disclose your identifiers, personal characteristics, financial information, location and inferences to that one professional, who pays us. When you agree to partner sharing on the guide screen, we disclose the same categories to the partner company you agreed to, who may pay us. The Meta pixel, our server's copy of some of its events, and our server's meeting events, share identifiers (including your email address, phone number and our record number for you in hashed form) and internet activity with Meta for advertising. Some of these disclosures may be treated as a sale or sharing under California law. You can opt out as described under Your privacy choices. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
California residents can ask us to tell them what personal information we collected, used and disclosed about them, to give them a copy, to delete it, to correct it, and to stop selling or sharing it. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. Email hello@retirehandbook.com to make a request, or have an authorized agent make one with your signed permission. We verify a request by matching the email or phone number you gave us, and we respond within 45 days. If we deny a request, reply to our response to appeal.
Security and report links
We use encrypted connections and access controls, but cannot guarantee security. A report link acts as an access key to the answers shown in that report. Keep it private and share it only with people you choose. Do not submit account numbers, passwords, or financial statements through this site.
Adults and policy updates
This service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. We update this page when our practices change. A policy update does not expand a contact permission you previously gave.
